Just for your interest. We have a student working on bullhead feeding at the moment, to see if we can detect any effect on invertebrate communities in the Cart. We knew from work carried out in 2005/06 the precise upstream limit of bullheads in the Cart (near Waterfoot). Interestingly, that has not changed in the intervening period. It seems thay have come up against a naturally insurmountable barrier - be interesting to see for how long that persists.

We also had a look at the burn which comes in from the left just upstream of Waterfoot. I can see why there's some concern with siltation (tillage, cattle trampling, roads, etc.) - any news on that one?
